CRMTiger WhatsApp Business API – Prerequisites & Requirements Guide

This document explains the business, Meta (WhatsApp), country-wise, and CRM prerequisites required to successfully use the CRMTiger WhatsApp Business API Integration for vTiger CRM.Official Product Reference:
1. Business & Meta (Facebook) Account PrerequisitesTo use WhatsApp Business API, Meta business verification is mandatory.

1.1 Meta Business Manager AccountYou must have a Meta Business Manager account.

1.2 Business Verification (Mandatory)Your business must be verified by Meta to use WhatsApp Business API. Common documents required (varies by country):

  • Legal business name
  • Business registration certificate
  • Tax registration / VAT certificate
  • Utility bill or bank statement (business address proof)
  • Website domain & email matching business name

2.WhatsApp Business API (WABA) Requirements

2.1 WhatsApp Phone Number

  • A dedicated phone number is required
  • The number must NOT already be connected to:
    • WhatsApp Messenger
    • WhatsApp Messenger
  • If previously used, it must be deleted and released before WABA onboarding

2.2 WhatsApp Display Name Approval

  • Display name must match
    • Business name
    • Website domain
    • Branding documents
  • Subject to Meta approval

3. Country / Region-Wise Availability & Co-existence

3.1 WhatsApp Business API AvailabilityWhatsApp Business API is available in most countries, but:

  • Some countries have restricted features
  • Message template approval rules may differ

3.2 WhatsApp Co-existence (WABA + WhatsApp Business App) Co-existence allows:

  • Same number on WhatsApp Business App + WhatsApp Business API

Important:

  • Co-existence is not supported in all countries
  • Availability depends on region and Meta rollout

Customers must verify:

  • Whether WhatsApp Business Mobile App is supported in their country
  • Whether WABA co-existence is enabled for that region
  • Only WhatsApp Business App numbers are eligible (personal WhatsApp is not allowed)
  • Number must be actively used for at least 7 days (recommended 30–60 days) before enabling Meta Co-Existence
  • Number should have real 1:1 conversations during the warm-up period (not idle)
  • Not supported in many countries/regions (EU/EEA, UK, Australia, Japan, South Africa, etc.)
  • Only one WhatsApp Business number can be used per co-existence setup
  • WhatsApp Business App must remain installed and logged in at all times
  • Google Drive / iCloud chat backups may stop working
  • Broadcast lists cannot be newly created (existing lists become read-only)
  • View Once media is disabled
  • Disappearing messages (1:1) are disabled
  • Delete for everyone / revoke messages may not work
  • Live location sharing in 1:1 chats is disabled
  • Messaging throughput is limited compared to API-only numbers
  • The business display name is difficult or locked to change
  • Companion devices / multi-device support may be limited
  • Meta WhatsApp Business policies still strictly apply
  • Policy violations can lead to message limits, quality downgrade, or account ban

4. CRM & Technical Requirements (CRMTiger + vTiger)

4.1 Supported CRM CRMTiger WhatsApp Business API extension supports:

  • vTiger CRM Open Source
  • Compatible with stable vTiger versions (version 7.1 to 8.x)

4.2 Publicly Accessible CRM (Mandatory)

  • CRM must be hosted on a public IP
  • On-premises or local-only CRMs will not work unless publicly accessible
